Earth Day by Guest Bloggers Tyler and Max

Learn all about our Earth Day activities from guest bloggers Tyler and Max.

Today is Earth Day. It is important to take care of Earth because it is our home.  It's where we all live. Help take care of our Earth!
This book was a poem about the Earth. It was about Earth
growing and the icebergs were the voices of Earth. We
all call Earth home...all of us on Earth!

We decided to pick up trash around our school to
help keep our Eath clean.

We helped out Earth by picking up the trash around our school.

We wore gloves to keep us safe.  We had bags.  We filled two bags with trash from around the parking lot and the bus circle.

Family Math Night by Guest Bloggers Parker and Joab

Thanks to everyone who attended family math night!  Guest bloggers Parker and Joab explain how we got ready.

We practiced our games for Family Math night during the week.  We played three games.  One was called War.  One was called Connect Four and the last game was a Lego math game.

This is the Lego math game.  You had to spin the spinner and
move your Lego man on the board.  You could land on
spaces that said take 3 or lose 2.  Sometimes you could
land on a square that said move back two. You
had to try to get your Lego man to the finish line with the most Legos.

It was fun practicing this game in our classroom. I love it.

Owen and Jack play together one morning.

This game is called Connect Four. You had to roll two
dice and count how many dots were on the dice.
Then you had to dab the matching number with your BINGO
dabber.  To win, you needed to get four in a row.

We also learned how to play War.  You had to deal the cards
"one for you, one for me" until the cards were gone.
Then you had to flip the top card over and see which number was higher.
Whoever had the higher number got to keep the cards.  If you
have the same number as your partner you had a war.
You had to put down three cards and then flip another card.
The player with the highest number won all of the cards.
The player with the most card wins.

Library Field Trip by Guest Bloggers Tristan and Eloise

A recap of our library field trip from guest bloggers Tristan and Eloise.

The library was so much fun. We want to go there a billion and ten times! We got to pick out books.

Lilly Mae found a book about pets.

We were in the children's section of the library.  You could play and
read there.  If you didn't like the book you were looking at, you
could put it back and get a new one.

Eloise and Makayla were having fun in the bear cave.

Joab is being silly. We love the library.

Jack is writing his name on his new library card.

We all got to check out a book with our
new library cards.

We had to write our first and last names neatly.
We have been practicing at school.

Mrs. Maynard read us a funny story about a little card
and big card.

Our class got to go on the story walk.  It was so much fun.  We read a cool story about butterflies and moths.

We pretended to fly like a butterfly to look for the next page in the book.

Our moms all took turns reading the pages of the book.

Thanks to the Hopkinton Town Library and all of our chaperones. It was a fun day!

Guest Bloggers Beckett and Tabitha

Here are some of the things we did this week in the words of our guest bloggers Tabitha and Beckett.

Guest Bloggers Tabitha and Beckett!
Mr. Carozza came in to sing Happy Birthday to Beckett.
He is a good singer. He comes to our class to sing happy
birthday to everyone when he is not in a meeting.
Happy Birthday Beckett!

Today we learned about diagraphs. Diagraphs are consonants that
stick together to make one sound. We practiced using diagraphs in our writing.

We made umbrellas today with rain drops.  It was fun to
make them.  We traced an umbrella and cut it out.

We  decorated the umbrellas with crayons.  We pressed hard to leave a lot of wax on the paper.
Then we painted over our drawings with water-color paints.

At center time, we worked hard on this tower. We made it out
of Lincoln Logs.  At centers lately we have been opening our sand table,
going to the library a lot and writing.

At calendar time, we count a lot. We count our days that
we have been in school.  On Wednesday, we were in school for 133 days.
We learn a lot during calendar!  We also practice vowel sounds and
say the Pledge of Allegiance.

It was a good week in kindergarten!

Guest Bloggers Ollie and Makayla

This spring, every student will get a turn to update our class blog.  This week Makayla and Ollie get their turn.    They chose the pictures and told me what to type. Here is what we did this week in the words of Makayla and Ollie...

We had a good week.  It was fun!  We love school. We are learning a new song to sing to the seniors at the senior center.

Guest Bloggers Makayla and Ollie

Today was fun.  We went on a scavenger hunt. We had to find
things in nature. We needed a clip-board because
we used paper on our scavenger hunt. We checked off the
boxes when we found things.

We were looking for birds in the bird house.  We saw lots of birds.

It was a warm day and we didn't need our jackets.  We climbed on the rocks.  It was fun!

We found flowers, rocks, buds on a tree, sticks, birds, moss, and acorns.

We worked on math problems with the dominos. We
had to add both sides of the domino together.  We
wrote a math sentence. We worked with partners.
The second time we did it all by ourselves.
Dominos are fun to use.

Tabitha and Anthony worked together to use the dominos.  They shared the dominoes.

We wrote about Spring. It was fun. We got to color in the letters too.
We wrote every day this week.  Our writing is getting
 longer and longer and longer!
