We had a wonderful end to the month of February. We finished up assessments for the second trimester with lots of fun activities in-between. Here were some of the highlights before vacation...
We had a silly time celebrating 100 Day! |
On our 100th day of school, we wrote about 100 things we would like
to have and 100 things we would not like to have. We also practiced
counting to 100 by 1s, 5s and 10s. We played math games and shared
the 100 objects we brought to school. |
Valentine's Day was a great time. Thanks to everyone who
sent in treats or supplies for our party. Our fancy friendship
party wouldn't be complete without a little dancing! |
We had the perfect snowy afternoon for some snowshoeing. |
Stopping to take a break on the stone wall. |
Snowshoeing is hard word! |
Joseph walks along our trail to the vernal pool. |
This is the spot where we will catch frogs in the spring. |
A perfect afternoon before vacation! |
Only two snowshoes fell off all afternoon...that's a new record! |
Samantha enjoys our afternoon. |
Making our own tail in the woods behind our school. |
Lia and Alice help each other out! |
Lucy snowshoes by the top of the picnic tables.
It will be a while before we see grass on our field! |
A Look Ahead:
We will be very busy as we head into spring. When we return from winter break, we will celebrate Read Across America week with an assembly on Monday to honor Dr. Seuss. We also have two field trips just around the corner. One is to St. Paul's school to watch the Jr. Service League play. The other is to the Capital Center for the Arts to watch the Curious George play. Look for more details and permission slips to be sent home soon.
Our writers will begin to learn about a new type of writing in the third trimester, opinion or persuasive writing. Opinion writing in kindergarten can be writing about your favorite pet, season, book, etc., and telling the reader why you feel this way. We will continue to read, read, READ! Thank you to everyone who has been practicing reading Book Buddy Books and/or WIN Group Books at home. It is so helpful in the classroom! In math, we will be working on comparing sets of numbers as well as addition and subtraction stories.
Happy March!
